The cost of living is considerably lower in Colombia than in any Country of Western Europe or the USA. On average it will be about 50 % cheaper, some items even up to 75 %. A meal in a good restaurant for 4 people will be about 30 – 35 Euro. -
What facilities are available?
The towns like Medellin or Bogota are modern cities, with a well working (and cheap!) system of public transport and so do the tourist areas. International schools and nurseries are available and so is medical treatment. The cosmetic surgery in Colombia is known worldwide! Telephone and Internet access is available throughout the populated areas. And as Colombia is a rapidly developing country, the daily progress in all areas is remarkable! - How safe is Colombia?
Travelling to Colombia might have been quite risky in the past. Nowadays there is still some guerrilla presence in some remote areas, but the government has strongly increased the presence of military and police. Travelling to and in Colombia is no longer dangerous – but as in most countries, it is better to stay away from certain areas.
Are there embassies?
Yes of course! Colombia holds diplomatic relations with all democratic nations and is a member of the UN.

As in most countries, the contracting of a lawyer for the purchase of a property is not mandatory. However, we strongly advise, to employ an English speaking lawyer.
What about taxes and fees?
Of course, there are taxes and fees to pay. But they will differ from property to property. Therefore we will always inform you about the costs for your specific case. However, in any case the cost will be sufficiently less than in Europe.- What is worth seeing in Colombia?
Colombia is a country full of history, full of tradition – but also very modern. Things worth seeing are too numerous to mention. The Iberoamerican Theatre Festival in Bogota, the world-famous Carnival in Barranquilla, the colonial old-town of Cartagena de India or numerous National Parks would be just a few things to mention.
